When they dug Leonardo DiCaprio's body out of the icy depths of the ocean after Kate Winslett shoved him off that floating, overpriced door, this machine was clutched in his dead, frozen grasp. The same thing happened to my uncle two weeks after he bought one.I'm just saying.PS - My uncle did mention there was pretty good connectivity down there at the bottom of the ocean.
When I contacted CTL's customer service department, I got two weeks worth of runaround as they refused various forms of proof-of-purchase, until I finally had to print and fax a copy of the Amazon.com shipping order off of the Amazon site. I am very dissastified with the way CTL does business, and DO NOT recommend purchase of the 2goPC netbook. I purchased this product for my son for Christmas last year, and within 10 months, the screen inexplicably went dead. Adding further aggravation, I had to pay $45 shipping to return the defective $449 netbook computer to the manufacturer, as it is 'not their policy to pay shipment on returned items'.
This laptop is junk, all the others listed above will serve you better, leave this one for the kids.that's what it is designed for. Get an Eee PC 1000, Acer Aspire One, Msi windbook, Dell Inspirion mini or HP netbook rather then this garbage. The laptop feels like a childs laptop from the toy store and doesen't perform much better. Very cheep looking, klunky compared so other models at similar price with faster specs. All others listed have faster spec, more ram, bigger hard drive, better display, better keyboards, better wireless, more slots better trackpads.
Probably in part because of the increased screen resolution, the thing takes forever to boot, to be able to surf the web (I haven't, but should, time it sometime). It is a little heavier than I would expect (no real biggie). But it was very inexpensive, is very portable and the wireless seems perfectly fine. It actually has a larger hard drive than I expected, a small bonus. I adjusted the screen resolution up to 1024 x 768 (and it is compacted so you see the whole screen in the 10.5 screen) and now I have to wear my reading glasses to read the screen (normally I don't need reading glasses except for really small print in low light).
Update: 6/2/09 I swapped out the 512 so-dimm for a 1 gb module, and after a panic-y moment when the thing would not boot, it now does seem to be running faster. I bought the 2goPC that runs XP. Now on to my complaints. And yes, the keys are very small.
I do too. I would recommend it to anyone. I bought this for my son and he loves it. Great little laptop.
